Innovations and lessons from Europe in response to the housing crisis - Presented by Office of Hon Dr Brad Pettitt MLC and Denksamen

Thu 20 Mar, 3.30pm - 5pm The Mark, State Buildings St Georges Tce, Perth WA 6000

The Event

WA is experiencing a multilayered housing crisis. Not only are we faced with supply issues but what has historically been produced can be too large, poorly located and often unsustainable.

What can WA learn from Europe when it comes to creating more affordable and sustainable housing that meets the needs of our community?

Come hear how the Dutch Government went about solving multiple housing and sustainability issues whilst managing one of the tightest land availabilities in the world. Hear about the challenges that were overcome in planning and government regulations and the opportunities for long-term investments.

Finally, we look at some exciting opportunities to apply these learnings to some key sites in Perth.

Speakers

Dr Brad Pettit MLC will share observations and learnings on sustainable and affordable housing from his recent European Study Tour.

Peter de Groot, Denksamen, a housing innovator who works with the Dutch government and in the UK, will outline the process it took to deliver innovative European solutions.

Kristie Weisz, Denksamen, a strategic leader in Perth’s building and development industry, will facilitate a meaningful discussions where you will have an opportunity to ask the questions that relate to your particular challenges.
