
PDW NEWS 19.11.2024: PDW Advisory Board update
Perth Design Week is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to our PDW Advisory Board: Gaye McMath and Eugene Hooks.
Gaye McMath is the Chancellor of Edith Cowan University, and a Non Executive Director with extensive experience in a broad range of organisations including listed companies, government trading enterprises and not-for-profit organisations. Former roles include Chief Operating Officer at the University of Western Australia, Pro-Vice Chancellor Resources and CFO at Murdoch University, Executive Director Perth Education City, and Deputy Chair Commissioner at the City of Perth.
Eugene Hooks is the founder of platFORMed, a Perth-based consultancy specialising in organisational ESG and project sustainability consulting. With over 15 years of experience leading high-impact projects across Australia, Eugene brings a wealth of expertise in design-led outcomes. A proud advocate for good design in WA, he champions the alignment of environmental stewardship with aesthetic and functional integrity, ensuring outcomes deliver enduring value.
Gaye and Eugene join PDW Co-Founders Sandy Anghie and David Smith and our inaugural board members Juliana Torres and Reinette Roux.
Sandy Anghie
Co-Founder and Chair of Perth Design Week, Sandy Anghie is an architect with a diverse skill set. Following a decade-long career as a corporate tax lawyer with leading law and accounting firms, Sandy returned to university in 2006 to pursue her passion and study architecture. Now a decade into her architecture career, she runs her own architecture practice alongside a portfolio of board and volunteer roles. Sandy currently serves as a board member of the State Library of Western Australia, and volunteers on committees of the Law Society and the National Trust. Past roles include President of the WA Chapter of Australian Institute of Architects and Deputy Lord Mayor at the City of Perth.
David Smith
Co-founder of Perth Design Week, David Smith has extensive experience across a variety of design disciplines including Building Design, Interiors (Hospitality, Workplace and Retail), signage system and wayfinding design and Furniture design which has been a life long interest. Current roles include CEO / Project Director at Markr Systems, Design Director at United Studio. David is the Immediate Past State Chair of the WA Chapter of the Design Institute of Australia.
Juliana Torres
Juliana Torres is a registered architect with twenty-seven years of experience in project management across architecture and interior design. Juliana is the Director of the multidisciplinary practice Shift Architecture, which she established in 2020. Past roles include Senior Associate at Hassell's Perth studio between 2008 and 2020 where Juliana held interiors leadership roles in a diverse range of multidisciplinary projects.
Reinette Roux
Reinette Roux is the Innovation and Operations Manager at Kosloff Architecture. Alongside this role she is a regular writer for design publications, enjoying the translation of spaces into literature, and vice-versa. Reinette has a keen interest in the sustainability of architecture and development and believes it to be a critical part of the conversation and subsequent value alignment when it comes to building strategic partnerships and relationships. Reinette has a Masters of Architecture from UWA, and MBA from RMIT.
