The Gay* Agenda in The Built Environment

  • The Mark at the State Buildings Saint Georges Terrace Perth, WA, 6000 Australia (map)

Presented by Perth Design Week in collaboration with The Flaming Collective*

This event looks at translating queer theory through a practical architectural lens and establishes several key frameworks that can be applied to various aspects of architectural design.

The nature of queerness is complex; therefore, the frameworks discussed are vast and varied.

Expanding on the emerging field of queer architecture, the Flaming Collective will discuss how the built environment can be a tool for social change.

In understanding how queerness manifests in the built form, we can start to formulate a prospective architectural future, asking: what value does a queer approach have for our industry?

Join us for a panel discussion to talk about all things queer and architecture.

The Flaming Collective is a queer architectural research group consisting of Matthew McGivern, Sebastian Robinson, Grace Webster, and Dexter Wong.
