Public commissioning often discourages ambiguity and risk-taking. Could there be a stronger argument for placing trust in artists to venture beyond the confines of Design and Construct? Is there a rationale for freeing artistic expression from the constraints of contractual arts fabrication? What might this alternative approach entail, and what possibilities could it unlock?

Examining the role of architecture in transitions, the talk foresees the practice as an act of care—for existing infrastructures, for people, and for the environment—maintaining and repairing futures.
