Presented by VOXLAB in the Pickle District
Public commissioning often discourages ambiguity and risk-taking. Could there be a stronger argument for placing trust in artists to venture beyond the confines of Design and Construct? Is there a rationale for freeing artistic expression from the constraints of contractual arts fabrication? What might this alternative approach entail, and what possibilities could it unlock?
VOXLAB is an arts production facility within the arts precinct, the Pickle District. Our design philosophy, rooted in the Bauhaus principle of materiality, guides our work. Emphasising collaborative efforts and the sharing of intellectual property, we are testing the quality of this approach through our Public Art projects within the public realm. This talk will be led by Founding Director of VOXLAB, Chairperson of the Pickle District and Sculptor, Jon Denaro and will feature art and design professionals for a forum-like event.
