This year the Italian Design Day (IDD) in the Perth will be celebrated on 20th March under the title “Fabricating Value – Inclusivity, Innovation and Sustainability.” In Perth, this year the initiative will be organized in cooperation with the School of Design and Built Environment of Curtin University and in the context of Perth Design Week.

Organised by EmAGN WA (Emerging Architects and Graduates Network) this event aims to uncover diverse young and emerging designers that have been bubbling and working behind the scene in Perth to share their work and experiences and a discussion of future directions.

Soap Box is PDW's first open mic format of design conversation. We are proud to present a brilliant line up of design creators, makers, users, admirers and critics. Soap Boxers will each have 10 minutes on stage, to share with, sync to, or speak at the audience with their content.

There is an urgent need for permanent, low-cost housing to enable homeless people to get back on their feet and establish a decent quality of life. Join us to hear from architect and “My Home” founder Michelle Blakeley on how she is creating homes for people who are homeless.

Much of the discussion to date on the new Medium Density Code has been about improving the quality of design. And that’s important. But it’s only half the story. The other side of the conversation, and something not widely understood, is the diversity of housing – and choice - the new Code enables.
